Junior Achievement Honors Central Florida Business Volunteers

Junior Achievement (JA) of Central Florida recently recognized local business volunteers at its annual meeting.

Bruce May, state business-banking manager of SunTrust Banks, Inc., received the 2003 Henry Cragg Award. This award is given to recognize a local volunteer who has exceeded expectations in assisting and helping JA in its mission to provide Central Florida students with an appreciation for our free enterprise system.

"Bruce has been on the JA board of directors for nearly 10 years, and he has consistently gone above and beyond in recruiting volunteers, teaching JA classes and taking leadership roles within the board," said JA President Scott Riddile.

Secretary of State Glenda Hood and her husband Charlie were also honored with "The Community Builder Award," given in appreciation of their 23-year involvement with Junior Achievement.

Bronze Leadership Awards given by JA’s national office were presented to three Central Florida volunteers for their exceptional service to JA and to the community. Linda Costa, president, WORDWISE, Inc.; Bruce Teeters, senior vice president, Consolidated – Tomoka Land Co.; and the immediate past Chairman of JA’s Board Rick Cloyd, partner, KPMG LLP, were each presented with the national Bronze Leadership Award recognizing meritorious and extraordinary examples of volunteer leadership.
