NYSSA’s 2009 Annual Dinner is fast approaching! Join us on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 to recognize our Volunteers of the Year, SEMI scholarship recipients, and winning Investment Research Challenge team.
NYSSA Members Vote for Board of Directors at Annual Meeting
On May 19, 2009, NYSSA members convened at the organization’s headquarters to vote for the new board of directors for the 2009–2010 membership year. The annual meeting also included a presentation of the society’s accomplishments from the past year which includes an online community for our 13 committees; a greater online presence via sites such as Twitter and LinkedIn; and new, highly attended career programs.
     
NYSSA Members Selected as Master Stock Pickers by The Wall Street Journal
Each year The Wall Street Journal ranks the top five stock pickers in each industry based on their recommendation-performance scores. Many of these master stock pickers were NYSSA members.

Working in Support of Education (w!se) announced the prizewinners of the 2009 Quality of Life Scholarship Competition Final Round and Award Ceremony on Friday, May 29, 2009, at The McGraw-Hill Companies, 1221 6th Avenue, 2nd Floor. The Quality of Life Awards Ceremony honors student excellence in generating FEASIBLE innovative ideas to improve life in New York City. Since 1996, more than 16,000 inner city New York City students from all five boroughs have participated in the QL competition. Through the QL Scholarship Competition, more than $400,000 in scholarships and implementation grants have been awarded to students since its inception.

Benchmarking Target Date Funds
In the target date world, one challenge has been benchmarking. Since these funds hold multiple asset classes and vary cross-sectionally by asset class inclusion and weight, traditional single-asset class benchmarks are not appropriate.
