NYSSA relies on those members who dedicate great amounts of time to create many of the programs that you attend. To honor these individuals, NYSSA presents them with Volunteer of the Year awards at our Annual Dinner. The Volunteers of the Year are selected based on their level of service and commitment to NYSSA’s mission. They are:
Virginia Donner
Virginia Donner’s continued support and involvement in the SEMI program and NYSSA’s student outreach has earned her a Volunteer of the Year title. Donner began as a mentor in the SEMI program and later became co-chair. She puts in a great deal of effort and time to the program as she formats the breakfasts, selects speakers, and coordinates the winter interview program for potential SEMI students, in addition to retaining her role as a mentor. Furthermore, she will be taking the helm as chair of the student committee.
Barry Sine, CFA, CMT, CapStone Investments
Barry Sine has provided support and involvement for numerous activities at NYSSA. Sine is vice chair of the Career Development Committee, one of NYSSA’s most active committees. He is also a grader and advisor for the NYSSA Investment Research Challenge. NYSSA also relies heavily on Sine to represent the financial community in interviews with various media outlets. Sine exemplifies the standards that NYSSA promotes.
Mark Ukrainskyj, CFA, Chief Investment Officer, American Economic Planning Group, Inc.
Mark Ukrainskyj has been chair of the Private Wealth Management Committee since June 2008 and has spearheaded two annual conferences: the Wealth Management Summit and the upcoming 4th Annual Manager Search and Selection Conference. Additionally, under his leadership, the committee held a half-day conference on Family Office Issues and two networking receptions. The committee will also be holding two upcoming seminars, Exchange-Traded Funds on March 12 and Opportunities to Transfer Wealth on March 24.
Loren Busby, CFA, NGN Capital LLC
Loren Busy has been inspiring the Alternative Investment Committee with insightful programming ideas during the last four years. Heading the committee since June 2007, the Alternative Analysts Forums have become a series of must-attend events for all industry participants. A subset of these forums, The Alternative Analyst Forecast was inaugurated in 2008. Loren has also drawn on her contacts in the Private Equity arena to speak. Additionally, in December 2008, the committee hosted a forum on Non-Traditional Investing in Entertainment and Arts, a new area of interest for membership. On May 12, the next installment in the Alternative Analysis Forum series “CDS Markets 2009 and Beyond: Transparency, Regulation, and the Market” will be held. We thank Loren for her dedicated service to NYSSA as outgoing committee chair.
