NYYSA Toastmasters Corner
What can NYSSA Toastmasters do for you?
by Robert Rugelis
Do you have to give presentations for work? Would you like to be more confident when speaking to your clients? Could you use some sharpening of your impromptu speaking skills? (That would come in very handy for interviews and also for the Q&A sessions that follow your pitches or presentations!) Toastmasters offers a proven way to hone your communication skills. To some, lack of this crucial skill set is akin to a self-imposed glass ceiling. NYSSA Holds Second Career Expo
On July 25, 2008, NYSSA held its second career expo focused on preparing investment professionals interested in transitioning into new positions or taking advantage of opportunities in their current organization. The speakers included Christina LeRoy, director of marketing, Dice/eFinancialCareers; Will Drawbridge, director of marketing, membership, and development at NYSSA; and Win Sheffield, career coach and consultant.
Christina LeRoy from eFinancialCareers gave attendees tips on broadening their job search to include international employment opportunities and discussed the changing recruitment cycle. Some places to look in the international job market are international banks and “regionally strong banks.” Searching smaller institutions or boutique firms is also a good way to find jobs nationally and internationally.
