Salmon Capital Of The World

The word Ketchikan comes from the word "kitschk-hin," meaning creek of the "thundering wings of an eagle", named by the Tongass and Cape Fox Tlingits who used Ketchikan Creek as a fish camp. Since originally founded, Ketchikan has established a strong economic history with mining, forestry and tourism, however, now the lines are blurring between its industries, as they become increasingly intertwined.
