Ketchikan's Newest Industries Intertwine

Ketchikan, like many Alaska coastal communities, has a long and rich history of harvesting and processing seafood.  Ketchikan's dates back to its original settlers and is founded in the origins of its name.  The word Ketchikan comes from the word "kitschk-hin," meaning creek of the "thundering wings of an eagle", named by the Tongass and Cape Fox Tlingits who used Ketchikan Creek as a fish camp.   Since originally founded, Ketchikan has established a strong economic history with mining, forestry and tourism, however, now the lines are blurring between its industries, as they become increasingly intertwined.

No Longer Competitive In The International Marketplace

Gary Mendell We're regularly asked about financing resources that really work.  Gary is one of those prized among our international network of resources. Gary Mendell, President of Meridian Finance, visited Alaska to speak to businesses about utilizing credit insurance as one form of extending credit terms to buyers nearly 10 years ago. His firm has further expanded since his original visit and he welcomes dialog with those looking at their international financing needs for 2007 and beyond.
