Ten Years In – Three Captains Celebrate a Decade at the Helm

2013 marks the tenth anniversary at the helm for these three windjammer captains: Garth Wells, Noah Barnes and Owen Dorr.

Windjamming full-time is a unique lifestyle and ten years ago, these three captains took the plunge: we took this opportunity to find out what it’s like ten years in.

This year, the Maine Windjammer Association’s roster of specialty cruises promises fun and excitement including lessons on micro brewing, award-winning gourmet chefs, Nashville musicians and naturalists all coming aboard to delight passengers and send them home with new tastes, skills, and memories to last a lifetime.

In the furthest corner of Down East, Maine, near the border of Canada lies a quaint, quiet lobstering village with sweeping views of headlands and Grand Manan Island where you might see puffins and you’ll certainly see seals. Some of the best fishing grounds in the world are right here in Maine so it’s no wonder that the award-winning chefs of the Maine Windjammer Association have created delicious recipes for fresh fish.
