Neil Shively won first prize last year for this exciting photo of the Schooners Victory Chimes and Heritage crossing paths near the Breakwater.

The scenic splendor of Maine’s craggy coast begs to be captured through the lens of a camera; professional and amateur photographers alike delight in the wealth of views of sea spray heaving against rock outcroppings, lighthouses looming through wispy fog, and forests of firs bowing along uncluttered beaches. The Maine Windjammer Association is holding its 5th Annual Photography Contest, and we invite you to submit up to five of your favorite shots of scenery, sails, sunsets and seals!

The first-place winner of the contest will receive a free windjammer cruise during the 2015 season. Runner-up prizes will also be awarded. Photo entries may be submitted, online, now through November 1, 2014. Winning photos, as selected by a panel of judges comprising windjammer captains, will be announced in November, and the winner—who could be YOU—can begin to make plans for a great sailing vacation in 2015!

Fred LeBlanc, one of our judges, has worked as a professional commercial, corporate and editorial photographer for over thirty years. His award-winning photographs have been exhibited in museums, libraries, galleries and juried art shows. Fred is in charge of selecting the top three images in the category of… Fred’s Favorites.
