Chairman's View
by Michael Couch

On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Bob Johanson for doing such an extraordinary job as Chairman of the Board this last year. The Celebration of Leaders, which was on June 22, has expanded considerably to include more charities and non-profit organizations thanks to his leadership. Historically, Mountain View has done a good job of creating a sense of community and Bob certainly expanded that tradition.

The City of Mountain View is one of the most successful cities in the Bay Area and as members of the Chamber we want to make sure that others understands its attributes. It is up to us to make sure that businesses, the media and individuals understand how advantageous it is to live and do business in Mountain View. With that in mind, I'd like each of you to consider what activities or events we can provide to keep all of us focused on promoting Mountain View. How can the Chamber be more relevant, rewarding, and profitable?

This year looks like it could be a challenging one financially. However, no matter what the high-tech industry or the stock market does, we will remain flexible and creative in our on-going support staff and each other so that all of us prosper.

I'm looking forward to working with each of you.
