The 2010 Jaguar XF Is Where Beauty Meets Speed
This model shows how to leave the others behind.

It’s the perfect balance:  beauty and speed.  For some, it’s hard to achieve, but Jaguar nailed it perfectly in the form of the 2010 Jaguar XF.  For its second year of production, the XF gets some big changes, most notably, the XF Premium (which replaces the XF Supercharged) and the high-performance XFR.

Overall, Jaguar continues to deliver sophistication and style with the sporty handling you’ve come to expect. The 2010 XF is available in three trims:  XF, XF Premium and XRF with one engine for each trim.  The XF has a 4.2-liter V8 that generates 300 hp and 310 lb/ft of torque while the XF Premium has a 5.0-liter V8 with 385 hp and 380 lb/ft of torque.  The XFR boasts a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that churns out a whooping 510 hp and 461 lb/ft of torque.  All three engines are mated with a six-speed automatic transmission with a sport mode and manual-shift models.

On the road, the 2010 Jaguar XF delivers a comfortable long-distance ride with an exhilarating level of performance.  Edmunds.com praises the XF on the road, noting that the acceleration on the base V8 is “swift and smooth” and for those looking for a “Jaguar with real claws,” the XFR’s engine will please with its “heroic power” and “capable and entertaining handling.”

The 2010 Jaguar XF has an athletic and confident look thanks to its sculptured shape. The grille has a distinctive look that exudes sophistication and style while the low nose and sweeping roofline give the undisputed promise of performance.  It’s evident that Jaguar paid careful attention to detail, from the woven mesh of the grille and light clusters to the large alloy wheels and side power vents.  Nothing goes unnoticed on this luxury sedan.

The inside of the XF is contemporary and bold.  The console-mounted start button beats red, which Jaguar likens to a “heartbeat.”  Press it and the engine comes to life as the circular gear selector rises into your palm and the air vents rotate into place.  The dashboard features polished wood and brushed aluminum while all seating surfaces boast comfortable twin-stitched leather.

The Jaguar XF sounds just as good as it looks, thanks to a 440-watt surround-sound audio system by Bowers & Wilkins.  This system features a trunk-mounted bass subwoofer, dome-tweeters and mid-range drivers plus SIRIUS Satellite Radio options.  The XF supports iPod and MP3 connectivity via the console-mounted touchscreen.

Standard safety features include stability and traction control, antilock disc brakes, side curtain airbags, front-seat side airbags and active front head restraints.  Standard features on the XF Premium and XFR include a rearview camera and blind-spot warning system (optional on the base XF).  Also standard on the XF Premium and XFR is the keyless entry system.

The 2010 Jaguar XF has a starting MRSP of $52,000 while the XF Premium starts at $57,000.  The new XFR will retail for $80,000.
