SAN FRANCISCO FIRE EVENT
Director David Geltner Discusses a Revolution in the Real Estate Industry, Hyatt @Fisherman's Wharf, April 10th
http://www.zoomerang.com/survey.zgi?p=WEB226A3EPSV...

Center for Real Estate Director, David Geltner, will be presenting his work on Transaction Price Indexes and Derivativs on Tuesday, April 10th.  Prof.  Geltner has been studying how these innovations in the world of real-estate investment  have the potential to converge in this country and revolutionize the industry, and with it, perhaps, even the way many commercial buildings are designed, built and managed. Transaction-price-based indexes allow for tracking commercial-property price movements, and real-estate equity derivatives  allow synthetic trading of investment real estate.  Come to the San Francisco FIRE event to hear Prof. Geltner discuss his work and the implications for the commercial real estate industry. The implications are nothing short of a revolution in the real estate industry!

New Homepage Highlight -- "Featured Graduate"

"Our graduates build the future" -- the MIT/CRE motto expresses our fundamental commitment to and belief in our students. The Center's mission of improving the world through better real estate can only be fulfilled through our graduates, whose innovative spirit can make positive, lasting changes.

To celebrate their work, we've added a special Featured Graduate section to the MIT/CRE homepage. It will regularly showcase a graduate whose efforts -- both well-publicized and behind the scenes -- are changing the face of contemporary real estate for the better.

Our inaugural Featured Graduate is Qian Wang (MSRED '03), who established ZK Real Estate in March 2006 as a joint venture with MIT/CRE partner Zhongkai Group. Qian's company was developing over 6 million square feet of floor space in China's second-tier cities before the company was even a year old. Visit our homepage to learn more.

"Go West!" MSRED Students Find Adventure and Experience
Go West! Students in MIT/CRE's Class of 2007 traveled to Colorado and Arizona last fall to gain valuable exposure to issues in real estate, to widen their perspectives, and to have fun. Nearly twenty students traveled to Denver and Aspen, and ten to Phoenix, to attend conferences, network with other professionals, and explore first-hand regional concerns in real estate. Reflecting recently on their trips, students shared some of their experiences and insights.
