We invite you to come and hear about our new work on the Chapter 40B process and the latest affordable housing indexes.

We will present the findings of our examination of the "life histories" of all 40B comprehensive permit applications since 1999. How many projects have been proposed? How long is the typical and not-so-typical application project? How many projects (and which ones) were built? Which projects are more likely to involve litigation? Come and find out!

MIT/CRE Director David Geltner presented a keynote address at the first and (as of this writing) the only real estate derivatives conference held in the U.S. Organized by Terrapinn, and held April 24th—26th at Bridgewaters in Manhattan, the ground-breaking conference focused on strategies for success in developing a new liquid real estate derivatives market.

CLASS OF 2007 OFF TO ASIA!
Members of the Class of 2007 will be visiting Hong Kong,

Approximately 20 members of the Class of 2007 will be leaving in late May for a 10-day course in Asia.  They will be visiting Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Beijing and visiting over a dozen companies, including Jones Lang LaSalle, Vanke, Beijing Capital Land, AMB, and the ZK Group.  A key component of the Center's international courses is the interface with other institutions of higher education.  The students will meet with students and faculty from Tsinghua University, Hong Kong University, and Beijing University.


 
FEATURED PROJECT
The Bachenheimer Building by Panoramic Interests

This month our featured project is  the Bachenheimer Building in Berkeley, CA.  The Bachenheimer Building is a mixed-use project with 44 residential units and 3000sf of office/retail space. Amenities include high-speed internet access, rooftop gardens, and stacked hydraulic parking lifts. It was completed in 2004 by Panoramic Interests, a Berkeley-based infill development company founded in 1989 by Center graduate Patrick Kennedy '85. His firm focuses on vacant and under-utilized parcels located near major bus and rail transit lines, encouraging greater use of mass transit.
