Early Stage Funding Showing Signs of Life
But it’s too early to celebrate

Venture capital funding for the first half of 2004 continued the modest upward trend it has been on for the past 3 quarters, with over $10 billion of investment; the highest semi-annual total since the first half of 2002. Perhaps more encouraging is that industry observers have noted the return of earlier stage investing. We have done extensive analysis of the numbers and while early stage deals are up, there is not a clear trend across the board.
