Keeping the Fire Inspector Happy

Mounting a TV into a wall recess to make it flush has always been a challenge. But beyond the carpentry required to accomplish this, something quite serious has rarely been addressed: Fire Codes. Local, National and International codes are confusing and often outdated by the newest fire codes. Code inspectors take the attitude that anything can catch on fire – including the TV. Thus the TV should be in a fire rated enclosure to prevent the fire from spreading up through the stud bay and into adjoining rooms.
