September 3, 2009 - Robert Greces, owner of Mercedes-Benz of Flemington and General Manager, Tony Genovese expressed their generosity today with the donation of a new Harley Davidson Motorcycle to the Raritan Township Police Department. The motorcycle will be piloted by Officer Pete Serrone, who put on a brief and impressive display of his riding skills, negotiating tight radius turns in front of an appreciative crowd. Attending were representatives from the offices of Congressman Lance and Assemblyman Doherty.
Assemblyman John DiMaio made a personal appearance with Raritan Township's Mayor Richard O'Malley, Deputy Mayor John King and Chief of Police Glenn Tabasko. Executives from Mercedes-Benz, Kuhl Corporation, local businesses and several standing and retired Police Officers were among the crowd of about 40 people in attendance. The new motorcycle has a special feature. It is dedicated to the memory of SWAT Officer Frank Genovese, Tony's brother, who was killed in the line of duty in Florida in 1982. Both Genovese brothers have served as SWAT Agents. “As (Police Commissioner) King knows, blue blood runs through my veins and given the opportunity to pay tribute to my brother, Frank, and all those like him, was a dream come true,” said Mr. Genovese. The Police Motorcycle will represent Raritan Township while escorting families of fallen officers during National Police Week, occurring each July in Washington, DC.
