Maxxis Takes 5 Titles at MTB World’s
If further proof is needed that Maxxis is the brand of champions, the 2006 Mountain Bike World Championships has provided it. Held August 22-27 in Rotorua, New Zealand, the contest saw five of the company’s sponsored riders gain titles.

Maxxis riders Sabrina Jonnier and Sam Hill took their first Mountain Bike World championships, and Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjaa added yet another win to her legendary resume. The championships also featured a double Maxxis victory in the junior downhill category.

Kirkcaldie Retires
John Kirkcaldie has announced his retirement: the 2006 World Championships in New Zealand were his last races as a professional mountain biker. Kirkcaldie, a fixture on the podium during six years with Team Maxxis, revealed his decision in August.

He’s chosen to go out on top, with a downhill victory in the US Open and the mountain cross title at the Oceania Championships to his credit in 2006. He’s also done well at other key races this season, taking podiums in downhill and gravity omnium at Sea Otter and several top-three spots at NORBA races, including a victory in Super D at NORBA #2 and second place in dual slalom at NORBA #5.

Maxxis Adding Hot New Sizes to Bighorn Line
The Maxxis Bighorn is getting a reputation for taking off-road racers to the podium in top series, including SCORE and CORR. Responding to the extreme popularity of this model, Maxxis is expanding the line to include some hot new sizes: LT285/75R18 Load Range “E”; LT245/70R17 Load Range “D” OWL; LT285/70R17 Load Range “D” OWL; and LT275/70R18 Load Range “E,” which has a load index of 125.

The entire Bighorn line is pinned for studs – a must-have feature in areas where extra bite in ice and snow is needed - and the LT285/75R18 size is original equipment on both the 2006 and 2007 models of the Ford F-350 4x4.

Duane Johnson turned in another amazing rookie-year performance with a second place finish, and Bryan Baker took the third spot on the podium. Maxxis Introduces True Spec Tire
Controversy surrounding the “tire rule” has been the talk of the karting industry lately - but Maxxis may have come up with the perfect solution. Maxxis has developed the EL Series tire to combat the continuing chemical warfare among kart racers, which has been especially prevalent in the southeastern US.

The EL is in the testing stage in two divisions in the WKA Heartland Series. In addition, Billy Lineberger has joined forces with Goldspeed USA, the sole US importer of Maxxis karting tires, to present the Maxxis Tires Saturday Night Showdown on the asphalt oval in Concord, North Carolina. The EL is the Saturday Night Showdown’s spec tire.
