Maxxis Strong Presence at 2006 Ford Tour de Georgia
Maxxis was everywhere at the 2006 Ford Tour de Georgia, held April 18-23. The internationally renowned race had everything for the serious racing fan: world-class UCI Pro cyclists; a route that showcased the South’s natural beauty in spring – and Maxxis as a sponsor.

The Maxxis Sprint Leader Jersey was awarded to Fred Rodriguez of Davitamon-Lotto. A sponsor since the inception of the internationally renowned race four years ago, Maxxis also once again offered Maxxis Madness, the Team DK stunt show that dazzled spectators at the finish line of each stage, and the Maxxis Feed Zone, where riders slowed to get the food that sustained them through the day’s race. Maxxis also served as the official tire of the Tour.

Maxxis Riders Take Podiums at Sea Otter
Maxxis was a strong presence at the 16th annual Sea Otter Classic: the company’s sponsored riders took multiple victories and podiums at the four-day race, held April 6-9 in Monterey, California.

Maxxis riders took all four top spots in the men’s downhill: Jared Graves of Team Yeti took the top spot, and Fabien Barel of Kona Les Gets nabbed second place, while Team Maxxis’ John Kirkcaldie took third and Cedric Gracia of Commencal rounded out the top four.

Maxxis Sponsors 4-Wheel Excitement with Easter Jeep Safari
In Moab, Utah, it’s an Easter tradition that ranks right up there with candy-filled eggs: Maxxis was a proud sponsor of the 2006 Easter Jeep Safari. Now encompassing nine action-packed days, this rock crawling event has been held in Moab every year since 1967.

Most of the Maxxis roster of rock crawling teams participated in this exhibition, and huge crowds packed the Moab area to take in all the excitement. As in previous years, the event culminated in “Big Saturday” the day before Easter - and this year, Maxxis driver Weston Blackie (#781) took third place overall in the day’s rock race. The crowd was also treated to a raffle and a barbecue, among other entertainment.

Ricky James Loves Riding – and Trusts Maxxis Wherever He Goes
The desire to ride has been a driving force in Ricky James’ life since he was five years old, and a life-altering injury in March of 2005 hasn’t lessened that drive one bit.

Then 16, James was competing in the Lake Whitney Amateur Motocross National in Texas when an accident left him completely paralyzed from mid-chest down. Determined to ride motorcycles again, he raced a quad seven months later – and has accomplished a lot more during the past year.

We Get Letters….
At Maxxis, we work hard to please our customers - and to hear them tell it, we’re succeeding. That’s definitely the case with recent customer comments about Maxxis’ motorcycle tires, including a note from Wilbert Kerkhof in the Netherlands.

“I've used Maxxis SuperMaxx tyres on my Honda CBR600 for more than a year now. On the streets but also on track days! They're great! Especially on the road, there is plenty of grip and good mileage. On the track on the other hand, they work good, but unfortunately, sometimes I got at the end of the SuperMaxx’s grip!” writes Mr. Kerkhof.
