Bicycle
Maxxis Riders Take World Cup Titles
Maxxis is a brand of champions – champions like Greg Minnaar and Christoph Sauser, who have wrapped up mountain bike World Cup titles well before the end of the season.

For both riders, the championship was secured at the World Cup races in Angel Fire, New Mexico, held July 9-10. Minnaar took the overall title for the 2005 World Cup in the downhill, while Sauser, of the Maxxis-sponsored Siemens Cannondale team, clinched the 2005 World Cup championship for cross country.

With Maxxis’ Support, the Bikes Belong Coalition Works for Cyclists
Maxxis is a strong supporter of the coalition, which works to put more people on bicycles throughout the United States.

The greater the coalition’s success, the better for all of us, Blumenthal believes. “Bicycling provides tremendous health benefits; the more people ride, the healthier they’re going to be. This is a particular concern with kids, because 30-35 years ago, more than 70% of kids rode their bikes or walked to school. Now the figure is closer to 13% or 14%. That’s a huge drop, and one thing the health community is telling us is that childhood obesity and diabetes are becoming a huge problem,” Blumenthal told MaxxDaddy.

Maxxis Sweeps ESPN Great Outdoor Games ATV 4-Wheel Frenzy
The ESPN Great Outdoor Games’ first ATV Four Wheel Frenzy was a smashing success for Maxxis, with John Natalie, Dustin Wimmer, and Bill Ballance sweeping the podium. The Games were held July 7-10 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex in Celebration, Florida.

Natalie passed another rider to take the lead during the final race, which he won by half a lap in 22:10:57. Natalie was awarded the gold medal, while fellow Maxxis rider Wimmer took the silver and Ballance the bronze. Pat Brown and Jason Dunkelberger took sixth and 12th places, respectively.

Motorcycle
Doug Blackwell Is On Track with the GNCC
Doug Blackwell is new to Maxxis’ motorcycle sponsorship roster, but that doesn’t mean that he’s new to racing. Blackwell, 34, has been competing in GNCC races since 1989.

He’s had some great results this year, with a third place spot on the podium at the John Penton in May and a fifth place finish at the Wisp in late June. Even during the current GNCC summer break, Blackwell is keeping his skills sharp by racing in the National Hare Scrambles as well as local and regional events. (He has an excellent track record with the Hare Scrambles, having won the overall series in 1998 and 1999.)
