I ride a lot on the road with my mountain bike. Does Maxxis make any hybrid/city bicycle tires?
-Dave, Norfolk, VA
Yes, Maxxis has incorporated a new hybrid section of bicycle tires in our line for 2005. The Xenith (26x1.50) is a slick, narrow-profile MTB-road conversion tire with low rolling resistance on the road. The Over-Drive (26x1.75) is a grooved slick tread design equipped with a Kevlar belt for puncture resistance. The Overdrive also has a reflective stripe to enhance rider visibility on the road.
I've heard that Maxxis is coming out with a new MTB Urban Assault version of the Holy Roller. Is this true?
-Vernon, Las Vegas, NV
Yes! Maxxis is now offering the Holy Roller BMX tread pattern in a 24x2.40 and 26x2.40 size, new for 2005. This tire is comprised of a lightweight single-ply casing sidewall and possesses the versatility of the Holy Roller to perform well in the dirt and on the street.
How good do you have to be to become a Maxxis sponsored bicycle rider?
-Nicole, Grand Rapids, MI
Maxxis encourages all riders from all disciplines to apply for grass roots sponsorship via the web site. Open enrollment for sponsorship submissions begins September 1 and closes November 15 of each year. The Sponsorship Committee will determine sponsorship for the upcoming year after that time. For more information, check out the bicycle sponsorship section at maxxis.com.
I wanted to see what type of motorcycle tire will work best in hardpack, rocky conditions. My motorcycle has an 80/100-21 front tire and a 110/100-18 back tire.
-Spencer
Recently, Maxxis introduced an exciting new tire - the MaxxCross Desert IT. It was designed with rocky and hardpack conditions in mind. It has the same great traction as our MaxxCross IT, but offers a harder compound to increase durability in these conditions.
I noticed that Nate Adams is sponsored by Maxxis. I also ride freestyle motocross, and was wondering what tires Nate rides on his motorcycle.
-Henry
Nate was riding on the MaxxCross IT tires when he won his two gold medals at the 2004 Gravity Games, and he was riding on the same tires when he won a Silver and Gold medal at the 2004 X-Games.
