Ryan Tuerck Smokes the Competition in Formula Drift
A strong second in the race for the Formula Drift title, Ryan “Hampshaa” Tuerck is feeling good about his prospects – and about his MA-Z1 Drifts. “They are working amazing as they always do. I couldn’t be happier on any other set of tires,” Tuerck told MaxxDaddy, adding that the quality of his Maxxis products gives him a distinct advantage. “They are super-consistent, they have a very grippy feel when they warm up, and they last a long time, so that frees up a lot of time in the pits.” Tuerck, who took a victory in Round 1 of the series, is feeling optimistic about the rest of the season. Testing on his vehicle promises performance even better than at Long Beach, site of the first contest. The New Hampshire native grabbed third at Round 2 and has racked up 294 points in all. He’s third in overall standings for the prestigious Tires.com Triple Crown, with 80 points. Tuerck also did well last season, finishing 2008 in sixth place overall. Drifting podiums are familiar territory for Tuerck, who won the very first contest he entered, back in 2003. The New Hampshire native found about the then-new-to-the-US sport on the internet, and went all-in by buying a car for his new pastime. Today, Tuerck balances his drifting career with part-time work for his father’s business – not an easy task with a vehicle requiring an average of 50 hours of work every week. Devoting so much time to his sport is made easier by Tuerck’s overall passion for driving: Even his rare leisure moments, he takes his personal race car out for a spin. Maxxis is proud to sponsor Ryan Tuerck and wishes him the best in his upcoming contests.
