Maxxis Bicycle Riders on Top of the Podium

The 2009 season is already shaping up as a resounding success for Maxxis. At races all over the world, the company’s sponsored riders are taking podium after podium. Recent highlights include:

  • Sabrina Jonnier of Team Maxxis-Rocky Mountain took three consecutive World Cup victories in downhill. In a run that cyclingnews.com called “perfect,” Jonnier won World Cup #2, held May 10 in La Bresse, France. A week later, she won World Cup #3 in Vallnord, Andorra. She then went on to win World Cup #4, held June 7 at Fort William, Scotland. Jonnier holds the lead in UCI’s downhill rankings.
  • With victories in all three races to date, Melanie McQuaid holds the lead for the XTERRA series championship.
  • Rory Sutherland of Team OUCH Presented by Maxxis won his third consecutive Joe Martin race. The event was held May 7-10 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Sutherland’s teammate John Murphy also did well, taking 13th place in the final classification.
  • At World Cup XC #3, Catharine Pendrel of the Luna Pro Team was second on the Elite women’s podium and Marie-Helene Premont of Team Maxxis-Rocky Mountain took sixth place. The Multivan Merida team took three top ten spots in the Elite men’s race, with Ralph Naf in third, Jose Hermida in sixth and Moritz Milatz in ninth place. The race was held May 2-3 in Houffalize, Belgium.
  • Premont, Naf and Milatz were also on the podium at World Cup XC #4, held May 24 in Madrid, Spain. Premont and Naf each took second place, while Milatz was third.
  • Georgia Gould of the Luna Pro Team won the cross country race at the Sea Otter Classic, with teammate Catharine Pendrel joining her on the podium in third place. Luna rider Katerina Nash also did well, taking seventh place. Pendrel took another podium at Sea Otter, finishing third in short track. Gould took 5th place in that race, with Nash in 8th and teammate Chloe Forsman in 14th. The Sea Otter Classic was held April 16-19 in Monterey, California.
  • Geoff Kabush of Team Maxxis-Rocky Mountain took ninth place at World Cup XC #2, held April 25-26 in Offenburg, Germany. In the women’s race, Pendrel grabbed the 6th place spot riding CrossMark USTs, while Kabush’s teammate Marie-Helene Premont took 14th place in her 2009 World Cup debut.
