Podium Is Maxxis Country in ATV and Moto Racing

The year isn’t over, but Maxxis’ sponsored riders have racked up podium after podium in ATV and motorcycle racing. A few recent highlights are below.

ATV

  • With 31 points on his nearest rival, legendary champ Bill Ballance leads the race for the GNCC ATV title. Ballance has taken three victories and six podiums through Round 9.
  • Maxxis sponsors nine of the overall top ten racers in the GNCC. In order, Ballance, Bryan Cook, Brandon Sommers, Chris Borich and Adam McGill hold first through fifth places. Like Ballance, McGill has taken three victories in the season to date. Taylor Kiser, Matthew Smiley, Ryan Lane and Jarrod McClure are in seventh through tenth places.
  •  Dustin Wimmer won the ITP Tires/Moose Racing AMA/ATVA championship with 438 points, 67 points ahead of his nearest rival. Wimmer clinched his victory with a win at the Red Bud MX in June. He was officially named the champion at the season’s last race, held August 7 in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Teammate Chad Wienen won the Tennessee race.
  • Maxxis swept the podium at the Steel City ATV Open, held August 31 in Delmont, Pennsylvania. Chad Wienen took the victory, with Wimmer scoring the second spot on the podium and the Maxxis-sponsored Josh Upperman in third place. Wienen and Wimmer’s teammate Doug Gust took the holeshot at the event.

Motorcycle

  • Bobby Bonds won WORCS’ Round 8 holding a lead of more than a minute. The race was held August 29-31 in Monticello, Utah. The Pro class win was his first of the year.
  • More than 3500 spectators thrilled to Round 2 of the Maxxis AMA Endurocross, held August 16 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The event featured 99 of the best riders in the world, competing on a course that included a water hole, sand, mud, rocks, logs, boulders and giant tires. Maxxis’ sponsored rider Kyle Redmond took fifth place after a bruising battle.
  • Maria Forsberg, riding with the US team at the International Six Days Enduro, finished second against strong competition. Forsberg earlier took second place at WORCS’ Round 7 in Olympia, Washington.
  • Tatum Sik took third place at the inaugural Women’s Summer X Games Moto X race, held July 31 – August 3 in Los Angeles, California. Maxxis’ freestyle motocross riders Mike Mason took third place in Moto X Freestyle, while Tommy Clowers nabbed third place in Moto X Step Up.
