With downhill champion Sabrina Jonnier joining an already strong line-up, Team Maxxis roars into 2008 ready to top the podium once again. Jonnier, who won world downhill titles for the past two years, will compete alongside longtime NORBA champ Geoff Kabush; Mathieu Toulouse; 2006 junior downhill world champion Cameron Cole; and Luke Strobel, the top American on the UCI world circuit.
Team manager Christopher Warrick is optimistic about his crew’s prospects: “I can’t wait to get the season started. We’ve put together an excellent team of riders and sponsors and feel as though the quality of the team’s equipment will work to our advantage. The addition of Sabrina Jonnier is quite an honor; she’s the best in the world, and along with Luke and Cameron, will make for quite a presence on the gravity side. In cross country, we couldn’t really ask for more than the Canadian duo of Geoff Kabush and Mathieu Toulouse. They’re fast, personable with their fans and media, provide detailed product feedback, and are great role models; they’re a marketing dream come true. And it wouldn’t matter how good my riders and sponsors are if I didn’t have a strong staff supporting them. The guys behind the scenes are responsible for every win: Gary Wolff and Adam McGrath are the backbone of the team.”
Team Maxxis will use Iron Horse bicycles for downhill and four-cross and Litespeed for cross country. Warrick praised both company’s products. “We’re excited to have Iron Horse supporting the gravity side of the team this year. It’s obvious their bikes are fast, as they’ve delivered back-to-back world championships for both men and women. A quality bike, like the Iron Horse Sunday, will make a great rider even better,” he said. “It’s also exciting to have Litespeed on board once again for 2008. In an Olympic year, it’s important for riders to be on a product they know very well and actually helped design. The custom Litespeed bikes that Geoff and Mathieu ride are not only light and agile, but the titanium provides a very dependable and comfortable platform to build a world-caliber race bike on.”
In addition to the cross country race at this summer’s Olympics in Beijing, Team Maxxis will compete in the World Cup circuit and the NMBS series. For more information and updates on the team’s latest victories, please visit TeamMaxxis.com throughout the coming season.
