Formula D: Forsberg Takes 2nd Overall
With a strong second place finish at Irwindale Speedway, Chris Forsberg rode his MA-Z1 Drifts to second place overall in the 2007 Formula Drift series. Forsberg’s performance capped a season that saw him make repeated trips to the podium. The competition was held October 13 in Irwindale, California.
Earlier this year, Forsberg took first place at events in Atlanta, Georgia and Sonoma, California, and he has consistently finished in the top 16. “We’re super-excited to be second in the series. We were hoping to be in the top three. The final round had a lot of tough match-ups. Me and Daijiro [Yoshihara] got to be second and third, and we were almost tied for second place. Me and Tanner got to match up in the finals. It was a very exciting event overall,” Forsberg said.
As he has throughout the season, Forsberg praised his MA-Z1 Drifts: “The tires performed perfect. They had a lot of grip in the back and down by the wall, which is a critical point; we try to run close to the wall without crashing. We qualified second out of the whole field, and had one of the fastest runs. We were also putting up probably more smoke than anybody out there, so it helped in the tandem runs as well.”
In addition to his strong overall finish, Forsberg was also named Driver of the Year by Formula D. Maxxis congratulates Chris Forsberg on an outstanding season and thanks him for choosing the brand of champions.
