Maxxis Takes 4 Top 10 Spots in NOPI Drift Series
Top: Daniel Willie Bottom: Blake Fuller After the smoke cleared at the NOPI Drift finals, drivers on MA-Z1 Drift tires held four places in the overall top ten. Blake Fuller took third place in series points for 2007, while Daniel Willie of Batlground Engineering nabbed second place at the finals and fourth place in the race for the championship. Two other Maxxis riders also took places in the overall top ten: Ron Ewerth and Sammy Tiger took eighth and ninth, respectively. The NOPI Drift finals were held September 16 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Willie said that he went into the final event knowing that the pressure was on: “The stress level was real high, because I knew I had to place pretty high to maintain my position [in the standings]. We changed a lot of things on the car after the Pittsburgh event; the car is up 100 in horsepower and 100 foot pounds of torque. We won the SpeedFed event after that. The NOPI Drift race was our second event with the new car, and we placed second there.” Willie said that riding on MA-Z1 Drifts made a difference for every Maxxis team. “[At the finals], they were awesome on that surface. It was a really slippery surface. Some of the other drivers had a tough time controlling their cars, but all the Maxxis drivers were having no trouble getting grip where they needed grip,” he told Maxxis.

Maxxis congratulates Blake Fuller, Daniel Willie, Ron Ewerth and Sammy Tiger on their outstanding performances throughout the 2007 NOPI Drift season.
