de Wilde 2nd at UCI SX BMX World Cup
Riding Holy Rollers front and rear, Robert de Wilde took a spot on the podium at the second round of the UCI Supercross BMX World Cup, held August 21 in Beijing, China.
Earning second place, de Wilde turned in a stellar performance despite encountering mechanical problems. Beijing’s intense humidity also presented a challenge for every rider, according to de Wilde: “After that [second] lap, I wasn’t sure if I would make it to the end because my body was working overtime to get rid of the heat. I pretty much had to crawl up the stairs after the finish line…I started to feel better after the third lap, which I won again, so I made it into the semi. I thought I was the only one struggling, but everybody was having a hard time.”
The Beijing contest gave de Wilde his second UCI World Cup podium of the year: He also took second place at the earlier round, held in April in Madrid, Spain.
Maxxis congratulates Robert de Wilde on his outstanding performance and thanks him for choosing the brand of champions.
