X Games: Jones, Adams 1-2 in Moto X Freestyle; Clowers 2nd in Step-Up

Maxxis took both gold and silver at X Games 13, with Adam Jones winning the top spot in moto X freestyle and Nate Adams nabbing second place. Not to be outdone, Tommy Clowers took second place in moto X step-up. The games were held July 30 – August 5 in Los Angeles, California.

Jones and Adams fought a close contest, according to motorcycle-usa.com: “Adam Jones came into the final round of qualifying with the highest mark, but Nate Adams knocked him down a notch and picked up the momentum as the comp moved into the final session. Jones managed to fight his way back to the top of the scoreboard while Adams tried valiantly to combat not only the brilliant run by Jones, but a broken index finger with four screws. Jones railed to a score of 94.40 by utilizing his two new flip variations, the Shaolin and Stripper flips, adding a can-can flip with saran topping and a Cordova flip to boot.” Jones posted a final score of 94.40 to Adams’ 93.60.

“I never expected this,” Jones told Lat34.com. “Never in a million years did I think that somehow I would get a gold medal, and I did!”

Clowers, a five-time X Games step-up champion, tied for second place in step-up, clearing the bar at 32 feet.

Maxxis congratulates Adam Jones on his victory and Nate Adams and Tommy Clowers on their fine performances.
