Chris Forsberg took another Formula D victory with his win at Round 5, held August 11 at the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California.
“Everything went really smooth. We didn’t have any issues,” Forsberg said of the performance that vaulted him into second place in the overall standings. “My MA-Z1 Drifts worked really well. We ran the whole tandem portion of the series on one set of tires, which is basically unheard of.” In May, Forsberg won Round 2 of Formula D, held at Road Atlanta.
Forsberg bested some of drifting’s top drivers to take his most recent victory, prevailing over Stephan Verdier in the round of 16, Rhys Millen in the round of 8, Ken Gushi in the round of 4 and outlasting Drift Alliance team member Vaughn Gitten, Jr. in the final round.
Brandon Bentley, automotive sales representative for Maxxis, was elated: “Wow! Forsberg and his team have demonstrated consistent performance, battling through a tough field to make Chris the first Formula D driver to win two events this year. Maxxis is very proud of Chris; he has brought us another awesome first place finish, putting himself right in the middle of a great points race in the series. He’s just three points away from the top spot.”
Forsberg’s team was also recognized at the event, winning the Air Force Reserve Top Maintenance Award, presented to Chief Mechanic Kevin Wells.
Maxxis congratulates Chris Forsberg and thanks him for choosing the brand of champions.
