Blume Wins W.E.ROCK
Ken Blume’s trust in his Trepadors paid off with a victory in the modified class at the W.E.ROCK Eastern US Nationals, held June 8-10 in Jellico, Tennessee.
“They performed awesome. This was my first race on the new compound. As soon as I felt these tires, I knew good things were coming,” Blume said. “They’re great tires; they stick very well. They made a difference in letting us get up obstacles in one shot instead of three or four. In the shootout, there was a hill that most teams were making multiple efforts at. We had to take it twice, as part of a shootout and as part of an optional bonus round, and we took it the first time both times.”
Blume noted that the course was very difficult: “The course scores had a very broad range, so it was truly separating teams throughout the event. We ran course A2 on Sunday, and most other teams were using the spotter rope. We were able to do it without a spotter rope; a lot of it had to do with our confidence in the tires.”
The Jellico victory gave Blume his second trip to the W.E.ROCK podium this year; he also won the Eastern season opener in Hannibal, Missouri. The next W.E.ROCK Eastern US Nationals event is scheduled for July 13-15 in Rausch Creek, Pennsylvania.
Maxxis congratulates Ken Blume on his victory and thanks him for using the brand of champions.
