Fraser Wins Overall & 3 Stages of Joe Martin
Health Net presented by Maxxis swept the Joe Martin Stage Race: Gord Fraser took the overall title and wins in three stages, while Scott Moninger took the victory in the time trial. The race was held May 12-14 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Fraser won the fourth and final stage in 1.31.08, bringing his total time in the final general classification to 9.34.23. Having held the lead throughout the race with help from his teammates, particularly Nathan O’Neill, Fraser was jubilant in comments to cyclingnews.com: “The morale is getting very good obviously. As you win, the more it compounds…I was pretty much surrounded in the final sprint, but I found a hole and jumped at the right time. It was a nice way to repay the guys."

In the opener, which featured an 11-mile climb with 1350 feet of elevation gain, Fraser met an aggressive attack on his lead position with an attack of his own to take the victory, going on to clinch the next day’s Stage 2 in similar fashion. Late Saturday, Moninger won the time trial two seconds ahead of the next rider. And as they had done throughout the event, Fraser’s teammates worked together to deliver the final stage win by holding chasers at bay.

Outstanding performances like this have allowed Health Net/Maxxis to achieve first place in NRC team standings. For more information about Health Net/Maxxis, please visit teamhealthnet.com.
