Double Win for Kabush at 1st round of NORBA
The NORBA kick-off was twice as nice for Team Maxxis rider Geoff Kabush, who chalked up victories in both short track and cross country at the opening round of the series. The races were held May 6-7 in Fontana, California.

Part of the lead group from the first lap of the cross country race, Kabush bided his time through most of the course. The 2005 NORBA champion took a decisive lead when two riders ahead of him collided and crashed. "It happened just a few meters in front of me," he told velonews.com. "It looked like Todd was fading a bit and Jeremy surged up, and they locked bars and went down pretty hard. I was able to sneak around on the right. I was pretty near the end, so I just rolled in, but it's a shame it happened because it would have been a pretty good finish." Kabush crossed the finish line side-by-side with the LUNA Chix’ Shonny Vanlandingham, defending champion in the women’s category and a fellow Maxxis-sponsored rider.

Kabush also turned in a powerful performance in the next day’s short track race, earning praise from canadiancyclist.com: “In the end, a tactically savvy Kabush gapped his contenders, proving he was the strongest rider on the day.”
