Maxxis Riders Take Crankworx by Storm
Spectators watching the podiums at the Crankworx Freeride Mountain Bike Festival saw Maxxis’ riders in almost every top spot. The festival was held August 3-7 in Whistler, British Columbia.

Maxxis swept the podium in the Jim Beam Air Downhill, with a victory for Siemens Cannondale’s Cedric Gracia in 4:15.61, a second place spot for Brian Lopes in 4:16.35, and Steve Peat rounding out the top three in 4:16.45.

Maxxis’ riders won both the men’s and women’s Crankworx Garbanzo Downhill. Marla Streb of the LUNA Chix took first place in 16:03.12, while Lopes scored the top spot in the men’s race in 14:31.67. Peat also shined in the men’s event, taking second place with a time of 14:32.50.

At the Nissan BikerX, four of the top six cyclists rode Maxxis. Lopes took the victory, with Gracia in second place. Michael Hannah of Team Haro nabbed fifth place, and Peat scored the sixth place spot.

Four-wheel rider Stacy Kohut raced the same route as two-wheel riders and won both the Jim Beam Air Downhill and the Nissan BikerX four-wheel events. In the air downhill, Kohut finished in 5:26.24, a full minute ahead of the next rider. Kohut’s final time was also just 1 minute and 10 seconds more than that of Cedric Gracia, the winner of the two-wheel pro event. In the BikerX, Kohut qualified first and went on to win both the preliminary and final rounds.

Be sure to check Maxxis.com throughout the season for updates on all these great riders.
