A week in sunny Puerto Rico, combined with dirt jumping and street riding on Maxxis’ new Holy Rollers: for Aaron Chase, it doesn’t get much better than this.
In late March, Chase spent a week on the Caribbean island, with two days devoted to dirt jumping at the Medallia Light Ultimate Dirt Challenge. With a festival-like atmosphere, the event features a cross country race, music, and performances by Chase and other mountain bikers.
Even when not performing, Chase rode throughout his trip, riding street in San Juan and dirt in Rincon. And because the Holy Roller can adapt to Urban Assault just as smoothly as jumps, Chase could handle both without changing tires. The 26” Holy Roller features an inverted semi-knob design, which offers a double-benefit to the rider: low rolling resistance and great traction on slightly loose surfaces. And with a single-ply casing, the Holy Roller is the lightweight tire that stars like Aaron Chase need.
“The Holy Roller is such a versatile tire. It’s great for street, rolls fast and is durable. When dirt jumping it has a nice feel; it’s light and offers perfect tractions at the jumps. I love how versatile it is. You can leave these tires on your bike all year and it will work! They hold up to anything that you dish out. It is important to have great tires. It is your only contact point to the ground so it better be good. It determines how you ride,” Chase told Maxxis.
Chase is the perfect rider to show Maxxis fans what this great new tire can do. He took third place in the 2004 Red Bull Bike Battle and first place in 2003. Other wins he’s racked up include the Rye Airfield Big Wheels Comp and the Toronto Superfest in 2002 and 2003. Chase has also won three New England Championships and a gold medal at the Sea Otter Speed Trials.
And when not delighting crowds in exotic locales like Puerto Rico, he uses his skills to entertain at Boston Celtics’ games, performing stunts during halftime. The star of numerous videos, Chase can also be seen pursuing a tire thief through the streets of southern Spain in “Chase’s Chase,” a short film which can be downloaded in the Media Gallery section of Maxxis.com.
