Mark Burkhart achieved a career first October 9, taking second place at the fourth round of the AMA Supermoto Championship Series held in South Boston, Virginia. This was an important accomplishment not just for Burkhart, but for all privateers competing in the series, as he is the series’ first privateer to put a stop to the factory podium domination.
Burkhart was on the gas from the beginning of the race day, taking second place in his heat race. The privateer then followed up with the third overall fastest lap during the superpole session. In the race finale, atop Maxxis high-performance Presa supermotard tires, Burkhart was a mere two seconds behind winner Doug Henry at the finish line.
Burkhart’s impressive finish should lead to an exciting challenge at round 5 to be held in Del Mar, California October 17, and at the highly anticipated finale in Las Vegas, Nevada November 13. Maxxis congratulates Mark Burkhart on an outstanding performance and wishes him the best in his upcoming races.
