Networking jumpstart 2003, MassWIT-style
January MassWIT meeting was a 'self-promotion'

Panelists at January MassWIT Meeting

Moderator for the evening, far left, was Laura Barker Morse, a Human Capital partner at Atlas Venture, an international venture capital firm. From Left to right, panelists included Marisa D'Vari, President of DEG.com; Lori Johnson, Your Best Image, personal image development consultant; and Diane Darling, Founder and President of Effective Networking, Inc.

An energized panel featured three business consultants with plenty of strategies to get you networking-fit this year. In case you missed the monthly MassWIT meeting held Jan. 8, the idea this year is to promote yourself with punch. Laura Barker Morse, a Human Capital partner at Atlas Venture, an international venture capital firm, moderated the evening's panel discussion.

"How to work a room and feel comfortable" was presented by Diane Darling, Founder and President of Effective Networking, Inc. Her humorous approach drove home crucial networking techniques. Marisa D'Vari, president of Deg.Com Communications, presented SPINE, her approach to networking with confidence. See Marisa's column in this issue, "Five steps to effective networking," which explains SPINE and how to use it. "Ideas about looking and presenting your absolute best" were Lori Johnson's, principle of Your Best Image, who added her power networking ideas to the evening's mix. See her column on "Corporate comfortable" in this issue.
