Very often women stop me and ask what they can do to help MassWIT, and I really appreciate it when they do! If you're so inclined, here's a list of 10 ways to help our community grow and thrive. |
MassWIT Executive Director Suzanne Zellner |
1) Post a message.
This is simple and really important. It's great to read the MassWIT posts, but our group comes alive when more people participate. Don't be shy! Send your post to MassWIT@topica.com.
2) Tell a friend.
Your workmate or gym buddy or sister or former roommate, or whoever can join us by sending a message to MassWIT-subscribe@topica.com.
3) Compile recommendations.
When you post a message asking for the names of great graphic designers, or not-horribly-expensive lawyers, or whatever the case may be, it's a great service to the group to compile those responses and post them for everyone to save.
4) Post jobs.
If you work in a company that is hiring, please ask your HR folks to post the job openings on MassWIT. It's free, and we have very qualified candidates here.
5) Advertise MassWIT.
If you produce a clients-and-friends newsletter, you could include a quick blurb about MassWIT in the next issue. You'll be sharing something of value with them, and they're sure to remember you for it. You could say something like, "Have you heard about MassWIT, the free, friendly email discussion group for women in business and technology here on the moon? I love MassWIT for the great advice and conversation with other smart women. You can subscribe by sending a message to MassWIT-subscribe@topica.com."
6) Ask for help.
Next time you need a service provider of any kind, from a long-distance provider to a focus group moderator, let us help!
7) Spread the word.
If you're involved with a corporate alumni group or if you're an active alum of your alma mater, please spread the word among that group! For your friends not living in Massachusetts, we have 56 other groups around the world - send a message to info@worldwit.org to find the closest one.
8) Get involved.
Get involved in MassWIT planning. I can always use help leading this wonderful group. I'd love to have coffee and brainstorm with you!
9) Sponsor an event.
Having your company sponsor a MassWIT event is great publicity for your business, great networking of course, and a ton of fun!
10) Pass along the MassWIT name.
If you have friends in the media, please let them know about us! We are always happy to spread the word about the great online and offline networking that MassWIT provides.
