Now on DriveLiveTV: The 2009 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

The 2009 Toyota Corolla Matrix Rides Tall in the Saddle
Compact, yet “tall,” the Matrix seems to do it all!

The 2009 Toyota Matrix exemplifies the benefits of a tall five-door compact wagon. The Matrix has enough space inside to carry items up to eight feet long. With its roomy cabin, smooth ride, available all-wheel drive and great fuel economy, the Matrix seems made for the times.

You Can Own a 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid Without an Eco Penalty
Unlike most hybrid makers, Toyota doesn’t gouge you for electricity.

Until the 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid, going green with other manufacturers may have involved a hefty premium over the gas-only version of the car. Not so with the Camry Hybrid! As Edmunds.com pointed out, “The price difference between the Camry Hybrid and a similarly equipped Camry XLE four-cylinder sedan is negligible. In other words, save gas, save money.”

Detailing Is the Key to Maximizing the Value of Your Car
Your car’s surfaces are the equivalent of your body’s skin. Treat them gently!

Detailing is one of the least understood, but most valuable services your vehicle requires. Since your car or truck is a significant investment, it deserves to be taken seriously. Washing the exterior, wiping down the interior and vacuuming the carpets is basic care. Those are the easy things. Detailing involves the real work of addressing wear and tear over time – the things that lead to nasty stuff like rust, oxidation, mold, chips, cracks and plain old neglect.

Indulge Your Sweet Tooth!
Before you clear your plate, leave room for these desserts.

There’s nothing like a homemade dessert. Sure, you can stop at your favorite bakery or pick up a ready-mix package at your grocery store, but the most delicious treats are the ones you bake yourself.

Redo Your Food Shopping
It’s time to rethink what’s going in your cart.

You hit the gym, take your vitamins and watch what you eat. You fill your shopping cart each week with the usual fruits and veggies, but your shopping cart may be missing some valuable superfoods.

Fuel Economy Economics: Gallons-Per-Mile or Miles-Per-Gallon?
Figure out how much gas a vehicle uses rather than how many miles it gets per gallon.

Inspired by debates they had while carpooling in a hybrid car, Duke University researchers Richard Larrick and Jack Soll ran a series of experiments showing that the current standard, miles per gallon or mpg, leads consumers to believe that fuel consumption is reduced at an even rate as efficiency improves. People presented with a series of car choices in which fuel efficiency was defined in miles per gallon were not able to easily identify the choice that would result in the greatest gains in fuel efficiency.

How to Get a Great Deal at a Collector-Car Auction
Bid successfully and you can drive away with a bargain or make a good investment.

It looks like a good year for bidders at collector-car auctions. The recession means that previously overvalued cars will be relative bargains. However, even a recession cannot reduce the value of limited-edition classic cars that are always sought by well-heeled car collectors. As Andy Cohen of Beverly Hills Classic Cars says, “I think the right collector cars are much safer than stocks.”
