It’s Movie Time!
Grab that bag of popcorn and your favorite candy.

Sitting inside a movie theater might be the last thing on your mind when it’s getting so nice outside! However, there are going to be a few rainy days and date nights that will provide the perfect opportunity to head to your local theater. Why not take advantage of the new releases?

Battle For Terra (May 1; PG)

Mala (Evan Rachel Wood) is a girl living on the beautiful planet Terra, a place where peace and tolerance is celebrated. What Mala and her fellow Terrians don’t know is that the last inhabitants of Earth have exhausted their resources and are now searching for a new home. When the Earthlings invade Terra, Mala’s father Roven (Dennis Quaid) is kidnapped. Hoping to get her father back, Mala captures and hides Jim (Luke Wilson), a human pilot who crash-landed. Mala and Jim become friends and create a plan that could save both the human race and the planet of Terra. Can they do it? For more information, visit www.battleforterra.com.

Ghost of Girlfriends Past (May 1; PG-13)

Ready for a new take on A Christmas Carol? Meet Connor (Matthew McConaughey), a bachelor who has no problem breaking up with multiple women on a conference call. His mockery of romance seems like it’s going to ruin his brother’s wedding until the ghosts of his former girlfriends visit him. The ghosts of girlfriends past (Emma Stone), present and future, take him on a journey through his romantic history to help him find out why he acts the way he does. Is there still hope for him to find true love or is he really a lost cause? For more information, visit www.ghostofgirlfriendspastmovie.com.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (May 22; PG)

When the Museum of Natural History is closed for renovations, some of its pieces are moved into federal storage at famous Washington museums, and it’s up to security guard Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) to infiltrate the Smithsonian Institution in order to rescue Jedediah and Octavius who were shipped there by mistake. What’s cool about the movie is the fact that it brings to life the Smithsonian Institution, which comprises the world’s largest museum complex with more than 136 million items in its collection. You’ll see the plane Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams) flew on her non-stop solo flight across the Atlantic, Al Capone’s (Jon Bernthal) rap sheet and mug shot, Fonzie’s jacket from Happy Days and even Archie Bunker’s lounge chair from All in the Family. The Proposal (June 19; PG-13)

There’s nothing like forced love, or is there? When high-powered book editor Margaret (Sandra Bullock) faces deportation to her native Canada, the quick-thinking exec says that she’s actually engaged to her unsuspecting assistant Andrew (Ryan Reynolds) whom she’s tormented for years. Andrew agrees to participate in the charade under a few of his own conditions. The couple heads to Alaska to meet his family played by Mary Steenburgen, Craig T. Nelson and Betty White. Margaret finds herself like a fish out of water. With an impromptu wedding thrown by his parents, Andrew and Margaret reluctantly vow to stick to the plan…but does it work?
