Language Weaver is please to announce that it has released a number of new language translation modules and that all of its language pairs are now capable of running on Linux operating systems. The company has continued its commitment to develop less commonly taught languages and languages that remove English as the pivot language, as well as to expand ease of use for customers.

By adding Linux-capable software for all its language modules, Language Weaver is meeting specific requests of customers. Linux versions will reduce barriers to usage of automated software in additional existing IT infrastructures, as the modules have been available previously for Windows-based operating systems.

Focused on both commercial and government markets, Language Weaver adds to its Scandinavian suite with the release of Norwegian, bidirectional with English. Other European languages being added now are German direct to Spanish and Italian direct to Spanish, important for European business usage.

In the government markets, customers have requested additions in African, South Asian and Central Asian languages. The company has added syntax-based statistical information for two of its new translation modules, Urdu, exclusively released for U.S. government customers, and Hausa. According to statistics presented in Wikipedia, Hausa is a Chadic language, spoken as a first language by about 24 million people and as a second language by 15 million more. Urdu is Pakistan’s main language and is one of 23 official languages recognized by India; Wikipedia estimates there are 60-80 million speakers of Urdu. These systems are available in both phrase-based, to aid with customization requirements, and statistical syntax-based versions, to increase ease of use and accuracy for customers. Statistical syntax is particularly useful in cases where the grammatical structure of the target language is significantly different from the grammatical structure of the source language.

With the addition of Linux capabilities as well as these additional automated language translation modules, Language Weaver continues to assist its customers in meeting the volume translation demands they face, help bring products and documentation to market faster, and support all the ways they develop and use information.
