Infineum to Open New Singapore Manufacturing Facility
Infineum Singapore announced last Thursday the commencement of a major project for the construction of a grass roots salicylate manufacturing facility at its Jurong Island, Singapore site. The construction phase is scheduled for 2012-13, with start-up to occur in the second half of 2013. Calcium salicylate is a unique detergent component which is a critical part of Infineum's highly-differentiated top tier passenger car and heavy-duty oil formulations.

R.T. Vanderbilt Plans $20 Million Expansion
R.T. Vanderbilt has announced the company will invest $20 million in its Murray, KY manufacturing operation as part of an expansion planned for both the chemical and mineral divisions. The products manufactured in the chemical expansion are sold as lubricant additives, while the mineral products are used in the pharmaceutical and personal care markets. Construction is projected to start in early 2011.

World-Scale BioRefinery to be Built in Indonesia
Wilmar International Limited, one of the largest global agribusiness groups and Elevance Renewable Sciences, Inc. announced last week that they have entered into an agreement to form a joint venture to construct a world scale biorefinery. This commercial-scale manufacturing facility, to be located in Surabaya, Indonesia, will begin with a capacity of 180 kMT with the ability to expand up to 360 kMT.

The new oil is designed for large stationary gas engines in gas compression, processing or co-generation applications that operate in extreme environments. Asia Pacific Base Oil Market: ExxonMobil's Price Hike at Unexpected Time
For eight consecutive weeks, Asia Pacific base oil prices were stagnant and stuck at previous levels. In South East Asia, all Group I grades were traded unchanged and the trend is expected to continue for the time being. Many were taken by surprise by an announcement from ExxonMobil Spore on Tuesday 22nd June 2010 that, effective from 9th July 2010, all grades of its base oils will be raised by $50-60/mt.

Eastern Hemisphere Lube Base Oil Price Report
Light sweet crude oil traded in the range of US$72-78 per barrel last week, closing at US$72.14 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange last Friday. Eastern hemisphere lube base oil prices for recent shipments increased overall with the greatest increases seen in Europe, Singapore and Japan.
