Daimler AG Updates Mercedes-Benz Operating Fluids Specifications and Approved Oils Lists

Daimler AG publishes the operating fluids for its vehicles and major assemblies, checked and approved by Mercedes-Benz, in the Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Operating Fluids (MB BeVo), presented by Daimler AG in both the German and the English languages. Daimler AG recommends using exclusively the products in these lists that have been individually checked and approved by Mercedes-Benz.

Repsol Lubricants to be Used Exclusively for Service-Fill by All Suzuki Auto Dealers in Spain

Repsol and Suzuki Ibérica have signed an agreement stating that all of the Japanese company’s car dealers in Spain will use Repsol lubricants in maintenance work for their vehicles. The agreement will have a three-year duration. Repsol has similar agreements with Chevrolet, Kia, Ssangyong, Tata, Mitsubishi and Honda.

GS Caltex India to be Launched in April

GS Caltex, South Korea's second-largest refiner, said last Wednesday that it will launch a new Indian lubricating oil business unit, GS Caltex India in April. The company plans to increase its lubricating oil exports to major global markets to 50 percent by 2015, from the current 20 percent. Sales of lubricants are expected to grow from 350 billion won ($305 million) to about 1 trillion won

Calumet's FY2009 Profit Increases 39 Percent

Calumet announced last Wednesday that its full year profit rose 39 percent, to $61.8 million, compared with $44.4 million in 2008. Revenue in 2009, however, fell to $1.8 billion, from $2.4 billion in 2008. For the most recent quarter, though, Calumet posted net income of $8.2 million, down from the $18.5 million earned in the same period a year ago. Fourth quarter revenue dipped less than 1 percent, to $495.8 million.

Asia Pacific Base Oil Market Outlook

The Asia Pacific regional base oil market is very quiet this week due to the long holiday of Lunar New Year. Most people are still away and there has been no movement of trades this week. Since there are essentially no trades, base oil prices remain unchanged. On the other hand, we might expect an interesting movement after the break. Who knows what is in the store when 1 major refiner's new pricing comes into effect on February 24.
