Pep Boys’ 590
stores will recommend Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil, and recreational vehicles
retailer Camping World selected ExxonMobil as its exclusive lubricants
supplier. Wilmar International subsidiary PGEO Group, which acquired 91 percent of Natural Oleochemicals from Kulim
(Malaysia) Berhard in July, bought the remaining 9 percent for 42.5 million
Malaysian ringgit (U.S. $13.5 million).
The National Ag-Based Lubricants
Center received a $370,000 U.S. Dept. of Transportation grant to test biobased
rail lubricants and greases. Colfax has acquired Baric Group, which supplies
fluid-handling systems, for an undisclosed amount.

The word on the street this week echoes what the U.S. base oil arena has experienced for much of August. Supply remains a concern amid still-healthy demand, and price ideas are holding steady for the paraffinic side while naphthenic values are firming.
