Waste Oil Site Gets $12M Cleanup
Thirty-six companies charged with hazardous contamination of
soil and groundwater at the Breslube-Penn Superfund Site in Coraopolis, Pa.,
have agreed to clean up the former waste-oil transfer station, the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Justice announced last
week.

Lanxess Expands in Polyols
Lanxess AG will acquire the business and production assets
of Chinese-based Jiangsu Polyols Chemical Co. Ltd., which produces polyalcohols
that can be used in lubricants. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Suncor Energy shareholders on Thursday approved its merger with Petro Canada during a special shareholder meeting in Calgary, Alberta… Safety-Kleen has signed East Hartford, Conn.-based G.H. Berlin Co. to market EcoPower rerefined motor oil in Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire and western Massachusetts… Eco Global Solutions, which develops and distributes environmentally friendly lubricants and fuel supplements, has opened its headquarters in Santa Ana, Calif.

U.S. Base Oil Price Report
ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil and Valero stepped out with plans to alter base oil postings, adding to the mix of recently issued price hikes. There was an unexpected twist to these announced changes: most prices rose, but others dropped.
