New Lease on Life for Group I Plants?
Global supply of API Group I base oils will shrink to just half of the world’s total over the next decade, down from about two-thirds today, but thanks to the rising price of wax, existing Group I plants may enjoy a new lease on life, according to consultancy Kline & Co.

U.S. Base Oil Price Report
U.S. base oil fundamentals held firm during the past week, reflecting the scenario that has been apparent since early-to-mid April. Despite rising feedstock costs, postings are unchanged.

It’s a time of disparity and even confusion in the Europe-Middle East-Africa base oil market. Some producers have started to increase prices, particularly for API Group I solvent neutral grades and bright stock, while others, particularly the majors, have not.
