Farm Bill Boosts Biobased Lubes
The Farm Bill signed last week by President Bush includes a tasty morsel for marketers of vegetable oil based lubricants. The new law gives the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture 180 days to establish a procurement preference program for biobased products.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has requested additional information regarding Shell Oil Co.’s proposed acquisition of Pennzoil-Quaker State Co., leaving open the possibility of regulators seeking concessions before the deal is completed. Separately, Shell announced plans to form a global lubricants business.
