On June 6, Joe Bacal achieved a dream and scored a first for Lexus. He won his class in the grueling Tecate SCORE Baja 500 desert race in Ensenada, Mexico driving a specially prepared Lexus LX 570 luxury utility vehicle. That victory paled in comparison to the one Bacal achieved before it – beating cancer.

Tom Colicchio is not really accustomed to being famous. He is certainly used to being known—for starting up New York City’s fabled Gramercy Tavern and the Craft series of restaurants—but he’s not used to being recognized on the street. “It’s bizarre,” he says. Recently, Christina Aguilera sat next to Colicchio at a dinner party and told him he made her starstruck. The chef blushes when he tells this story. “Get outta here,” he told her. “No way.”
