Vehicle Concept: The Lexus LF-Gh Hybrid
Forward-looking sedan offers a glimpse of Lexusí future.

Concept cars are meant to grab the attention of anyone in their vicinity and hold on relentlessly until they have made their point. The Lexus LF-Gh Hybrid Concept, introduced at the 2011 New York International Auto Show in April, succeeds dramatically at this task, demonstrating to all in attendance just how serious the luxury automaker is about bold, futuristic styling and environmental awareness.

The Lexus LF-Gh Hybrid Concept captures the essence of the evolution of the modern day grand touring sedan, projecting that automotive niche through the filter of the L-Finesse design philosophy and visualizing it as it would appear in the coming years. The predictive look of the Lexus LF-Gh concept marries the hard angles and smooth curves that Lexus designers plan to introduce across the premium brand’s lineup going forward, and the “clean sheet” mandate given to the hybrid’s stylists provided them with free reign to truly explore the potential offered by a grand touring automobile.

Naturally, the Lexus LF-Gh Hybrid Concept’s exquisite shape also serves an important function when it comes to enhancing the automobile’s efficiency, acceleration and stability at speed. The vehicle’s front LED foglamps are mounted beside air inlets that are matched by similar outlets at the rear of the automobile, promoting smooth airflow. The slick sides of the sedan are marked by an absence of protruding sideview mirrors, further enhancing its aerodynamic profile while its unique grille shape serves to plant the vehicle and improve stability while traveling down the highway.

Complementing the LF-Gh’s arresting looks are a drivetrain and chassis that offer an engaging driving experience with definite high performance leanings. Although the sedan is a hybrid automobile, Lexus has taken care to ensure that power, acceleration and handling have not been sacrificed in the pursuit of miles per gallon. Rather, the LF-Gh Hybrid Concept puts forth the idea that fun motoring and ecological responsibility are not mutually exclusive concepts.

Inside, the LF-Gh offers generous interior room for both passengers and cargo with enough trunk space to help the automobile expertly acquit itself in its role as a comfortable tourer. As with all Lexus vehicles, the LF-Gh provides a passenger compartment that is generously appointed with top-flight materials, entertainment and driving technologies and the most up-to-date ergonomics and comfort features in the industry.

The Lexus LF-Gh Hybrid Concept proves that, once again, Lexus has managed to stay ahead of the curve and predict the future of luxury sedan styling.
