Lexus 2010 RX 350 Keeps Its Name, but Rewrites the Game
Bigger, wider, roomier and a better handler, too, the RX 350 awaits you.

Leave it to Lexus to find new inspiration in the midsize crossover! The 2010 RX 350 is completely revamped, redesigned and spiffed up to the highest Lexus standard, and that’s just our take on the interior. Out on the road, the RX 350 makes drivers smile and passengers coo with contentment. You won’t find a better family wagon than the RX 350.

Fresh from its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the next generation RX 350 has arrived. The vehicle that pioneered the car-based luxury utility vehicle segment when it launched in 1998 is completely redesigned and will continue to set new benchmarks in areas that have made it the best-selling luxury utility vehicle: innovation, styling, performance, utility and comfort.

The new RX look is strong, powerful and distinctive. A pronounced shoulder along the RX's profile integrates front and rear creating a sleek and slippery shape. While the RX 350 is larger in nearly every dimension, aerodynamic efficiency actually improves. Its air-splitting shape and a specially designed undertray helped achieve a segment-topping 0.32 coefficient of drag (Cd). Standard 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels complement the exterior with a strong, sporty look with optional 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels providing another styling cue.

The 2010 RX 350 introduces a totally new platform that offers greater interior volume. The extra room is instantly noticeable in all the right dimensions—heads, shoulders, knees, hips and posteriors. The cabin feels a lot more spacious than the preceding model. Cushiony and ultra-buttery leather seats are firm, yet long haul comfortable. Ultra-efficient space utilization yields five percent more cargo volume and easier loading.

What’s more, the new design showcases a gorgeous gauge tunnel and a sweeping dashboard housing the very latest Lexus-first technologies. The RX becomes the new leader in central control with the introduction of Remote Touch. Remote Touch replaces the previous touchscreen approach with a more intuitive and ergonomically friendly function. Positioned on the center console, Remote Touch is as natural to the driver's hand as a computer mouse. The RX uses voice recognition command throughout. It also offers a navigation system with a new casual language recognition system that promotes “conversation” between you and your ride. Standard XM Satellite Radio capability is now joined by XM NavTraffic and new NavWeather features.

The new RX 350 is available with a selection of luxury and sport option packages, which include features like a Lexus-exclusive Mark Levinson Surround-Sound system, a dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system, dynamic radar cruise control and a Sports Package featuring a sport-tuned suspension.

The striking split-level dash consists of a "display zone" that assists the driver via an eight-inch, navigation display set back for improved visibility. A white “Organic LED” multi-informational display ensures exceptional readability from a wide angle. An optional Heads-up Display reduces the need for excessive eye movement, and the use of high-intensity LEDs makes the display bright enough to be read in direct sunlight. The "operation zone" provides access to and control of a large range of information through the available Remote Touch navigation controller and the steering wheel-mounted multi-information switch.

The new RX 350 uses an improved 275-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine teamed with an electrically controlled, sequential-shift six-speed transaxle. An all-wheel drive version features Active Torque Control AWD that sends power to individual wheels as needed. Handling is a joy thanks to an optimized MacPherson front strut system and uniquely designed double-wishbone rear suspension that provides exceptional agility and control.

Active and passive safety systems continue to be among the vehicle's most impressive features. The 2010 RX offers an available Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) that smoothly integrates individual systems like Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Antilock Braking System (ABS), Hill Assist Control (HAC) and Traction Control (TRAC). It coordinates throttle, steering and braking to help prevent skids while cornering and steps in when needed on slippery roads or other challenging conditions.

The available Pre-Collision System (PCS) relies on millimeter-wave radar technology to recognize a possible frontal collision, then primes the brake assist and retracts the driver and front passenger's seatbelts in anticipation of the crash. An intelligent Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) is available with High Intensity Discharge (HID) low- and high-beam headlamps. The new lighting system senses the vehicle's location based on vehicle speed and steering angle and swivels the front headlamps into the turn. An optional new automatic high-beam system detects light from oncoming vehicles, preceding vehicles or ambient sources and automatically switches from high to low beams.

The all-new RX also offers a video-assisted wide-angle side-view monitor. With a camera located under the passenger’s side-view mirror, the driver can check hard-to-view areas on the passenger’s side of the vehicle by simply selecting a button on the navigation screen or the steering wheel and viewing the camera image on the navigation screen.

Passive safety features include a class-leading 10 standard airbags on the new RX including dual-stage driver and front-passenger airbags (including the Lexus exclusive twin-chamber front-passenger airbag), driver and front-passenger knee airbags, front and rear seat-mounted side airbags and side-curtain airbags. It is also equipped with Lexus front-seat active headrests, designed to help reduce a possible whiplash injury when in certain lower speed collisions from the rear.

The all-new 2010 RX 350 is available now for viewing and test drives. Please give us a call and we’ll introduce you to a very impressive midsize luxury crossover that makes a delightful family wagon.
