Another item worth mentioning are service records. Any recent services should be mentioned and a complete set of records makes a big difference. Cracks or small imperfections in a windshield must be repaired or replaced whenever we sell a used vehicle. If you have one on your trade, you will be asked about it and most likely will be advised to have it replaced and pay any deductible as it will save you money over our having to do it. One last item is smoking. If you are a smoker and your vehicle smells like it, it will significantly reduce its value. Some of the smell can be irradicated but not all so be prepared to expect less than you had hoped for.
These are just a few examples of what you can do to increase the value of your trade in vehicle. As a motor vehicle dealer, we are held to high standards when offering a car or truck for sale. Consequently, the better your car looks and better mechanical condition it is in, the less work we will need to do and the more it will be worth as a trade.
