The 2019 Chevrolet Impala is the biggest sedan the bowtie brand offers, one whose striking style, spacious interior and sophisticated technologies give more expensive luxury cars a run for their money. With a great deal of prestige behind the name, the new Impala is a stylish sedan perfect for the forward thinker.
It’s hard to find an angle from which the 2019 Chevrolet Impala doesn’t look striking. Though it is front-wheel-driven, its proportions hint at a rear-wheel drive powertrain, which is always good if you appreciate cars with a non-assuming sporty look. The overall exterior design has changed little since 2014, in large part because there’s been no need for alterations; it works quite well as it is. The interior is a lot busier: Chevrolet has made hefty use of all sorts of colors, materials and cut lines, with a swooping dashboard and contrasting upholstery that really give the Impala an upscale feel.
Far from delivering the kind of mushy ride you can often expect from vehicles in its segment, the 2019 Chevrolet Impala has a stable feel that makes it surprisingly fun to drive. Standard is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that’s rated at 197 horsepower and delivers good fuel economy. If you prefer more gusto, the much better choice is the 3.6-liter V6 rated at 305 horsepower; its smooth power delivery and responsive acceleration make for a good time regardless of where you happen to be driving (though it’s particularly delightful on the open road). The Impala has always been known for being fun to drive, and the 2019 model continues to deliver on that front with even more refinement.
The 2019 Chevrolet Impala is very well equipped for the money, and with all options selected feels more akin to a fully-fledged luxury sedan. On the base trim you can find keyless ignition technology and a very clever and intuitive infotainment system complete with 8-inch touch screen and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility. At the top of the line, the Impala Premier offers leather upholstery, a Bose® speaker setup, 19-inch wheels and parking sensors on top of all of the other amenities delivered throughout the other trim levels, such as heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and seats with power lumbar support.
The Chevrolet Impala has long been a benchmark of big sedan excellence in the United States. With its great features and delightful performance, the 2019 model clearly continues that trend and promises to keep the Impala seated in its position of authority for some time to come.
