Dick Eaton Joins CEO Summit on Leading Change

If you happened to see Dick frantically furling and trimming the jib on an America’s Cup 12-meter yacht on Naragansett Bay, he wasn't on vacation — he was participating in a demo of The Great Group Challenge™, an experiential leadership development simulation which was part of a two-day, by-invite-only dialogue on leading change organized by The Foster Mobley Group.

In her keynote address May 5 at the Granite State Human Resources Conference, Julia Hector-Douglas presented the case for bringing serious fun into the workplace. Since Leapfrog is in the business of creating fun coupled with learning, it is no surprise that Julia has quite a few powerful suggestions to share.

Who'd Have Thunk?

Staffing.  Check!  Team lists. Check!  32 boxes of props.  Check!  Just two weeks into his new role as Leapfrog's Director, Operations (aka Director of Order and Reason), Andy Cheng felt confident that he was fully prepared for managing the complex logistics of our All Fore! One and One Fore! All™ program. So who'd have thunk...

Leapfrog in the Media

How do you motivate loosely-formed project teams made up of home-based freelancers? This was the question posed to Leapfrog's Dick Eaton and Carrie Kuempel by NetworkWorldFusion, a Network World online publication. Click below to read our responses and the full article.

Brief Case #2 John Hancock: Becoming a Gold Medal Team
John Hancock's Olympic Ambassadors have it tough...really!

Like all the others that had come before it, it had been a long day! The last thing that Omarosa wanted was to spend one more waking moment vertical.

STOP the presses! What does Omarosa, one of the notorious finalists in last season's TV show “The Apprentice”, have to do with the twenty-four hand-picked John Hancock employees who are on their way to Athens to be ambassadors for John Hancock’s VIP guests?

Top 10
2 Truths & A Lie Leapfrog Style

Get to know our three new team members (and a little bit more about our Founder and Chief Energizing Officer, Dick Eaton) by joining us in this classic team building exercise. Guess which statements are truths and which are fibs by taking the poll below.

TRUTH OR LIE? YOU VOTE!

1. Did Andy walk down the red carpet with Billy Crystal and Rob Reiner?

Yes! It's the truth and a memorable claim to fame.

Naw. He's dreaming.

2. While Andy lived in Hong Kong, he started a small trading company.

Yep, and it was so successful that he chooses to work at Leapfrog.

Nope. You guys will believe anything!

3. So can Andy really sing? He tells us he is recorded on 2 CDs and produced 2 music CDs.

Yes! Like a bird!

Are you kidding?! Dreaming again!

4. One summer, Carrie sat in camouflaged bird blinds, studying the feeding habits of herons in southern France.

She sure did! Step-step-step-peck-SUCCESS!

No, but she drank a lot of wine while she gazed at fields of sunflowers in Arles.

5. In her spare time, Carrie makes baskets from twigs.

You bet! And she also weaves potholders.

Eee gads! With 2 sons, 2 gerbils, 2 newts, 1 fish and 1 husband, who has spare time?

6. Carrie danced as the Great Pumpkin on "Lucy's Toy Shop" in her TV debut at age 5.

Yep, and *you* can have her autograph!

Huh? Pumpkin, shumpkin!

7. While planning leadership conferences for WR Grace, Lisa played in a Celebrity-Amateur golf tournament with Sean Connery.

True. Colleagues and clients alike are in awe of Lisa's prowess on the links.

Uh-uh. If you ever see Lisa on a golf course, RUN! The only time she ever played golf, she whacked her partner on her back swing!

8. Lisa loves sky diving.

Yesiree! Bombs away! Lisa once skydived from 14,000 feet! Now her husband and daughter keep her grounded.

False. Lisa is a wallflower (NOT!).

9. Lisa once starred as a masked robber in an employee motivational video.

True. Lisa and her management team staged a holdup at a liquor store.

False. Remember, Lisa is a wallflower (NOT!).

10. In addition to being the creative force behind many of our breakthrough simulations, Dick pours his passion into painting.

True. Dick cherishes his time in his Natick studio where he oil paints. (He's currently in his frog-green phase!)

No WAY! How could he with a family of five and so much client travel?!
